The hummingbird is the smallest bird and the smallest animal that has a backbone.
A hummingbird has no sense of smell.
A hummingbird can rotate its’ wings in a circle and can fly backwards, forewards, up, down, sideways and even upside down. Not to mention hovering in mid-air.
During a dive they can reach 60 miles per hour and average 30 to 40 mph in normal flight.
The little bird has a heart rate that can reach 1260 beats per minute.
Percentage-wise, the hummingbird has the largest brainof all birds. (4.2% of it’s body weight.
